Information overload time! Some other resources: Stickied thread for new player tips - Slightly outdated, but a good read nonetheless.. DreamyAbaddon's GW2 Combat 101 - Highly, highly recommend, especially if you are coming from WoW or other traditional MMOs.

The options are limited, subpar, force the player to make the choice to play the game in expert mode. To me it sounds like people commenting these things have not played enough warrior to realise how much more difficult it is to perform bursts, kite, pressure and defend yourself as a warrior compared to the likes (in WvW at least) of any other

Back in WoW I had my keyboard fully keybinded. I liked it a lot. I used the WASD for movement (couldn't drop the backwards key since I liked it even though I never used it in PvP), the surrounding keys (1-5, Q, E, R, F, Z-V, 12 in total, the size of the skillbars) with it's SHIFT, CTRL and ALT counterparts fully binded for the hoard of skills you could use which could be simultaneously available.
Completing daily achievements rewards the player with 2 and 10 Achievement Points. 10 are only received if the player hasn't reached the cap of 15,000 for daily and now-defunct monthly achievements combined. For new players. Get equipment from personal story and loot drops rather than buying from weaponsmiths or armorsmiths.
If GW2: Secrets Of The Obscure is the first time you're jumping in, definitely consider watching this quick buyer's guide - as while the story is self contai
There are two main builds for any class in GW2, "Power" which uses Berserker stats (Power main, Precision and Ferocity second) and "Condi" which uses Viper's stats (Condition Damage, Duration, etc.). Engi can use both, but power is faster; overworld enemies are soft, and condi tends to require more kits.
Tips for new players The following video shows you some things that will help when you set foot into Guild Wars 2.

@AliamRationem.5172 said:Man, I probably could have used some of this advice tonight!. I queued with my friend who is new and doing her first placement and I guess because I placed into platinum, we ended up matched with a bunch of obviously high-end players.

Whatever seems fun. You get xp from pretty much anything you do, like uncovering parts of the map, gathering stuff, killing stuff, completing events and in zones that you outlevel you get scaled down and so xp rewards are still kinda relevant. My biggest tip for new players: Rebind your evade/dodge roll. Turn off the "Double-Tap to Evade" option and bind "Dodge" to something like your middle mouse button. In my experience, rebinding it and then getting in the habit of using it will save you more deaths than everything else combined. If you are a new player, then you care about: - Gold - Used for many things. Not too hard to get. Anything that costs less than 1 gold is cheap, so feel free buying it if you want it. - Karma - Account bound reward for doing events. It's not valuable or rare, spend it as at your heart's content.
I want to give GW2 a try, never played it. I played many mmos in the last years, but i'm too much casual for many of them thanks to Real Life.
